It is hard to imagine the courage it took to get into a sailplane in 1933 and take off from this mountain.

After 4 hours and 50 minutes landing in Frederick Maryland, 121.6 miles away...

When you stop on Afton Mountain and look at the view you will be in awe. But to launch from here, even with today's technology takes real guts!!! (just my opinion)

This week I was our showing land in and around Charlottesville (Albemarle, Fluvanna and Nelson Counties). When showing land I not only go out in my truck, but I also wear my mud boots because we are going to walk some interesting property lines.

Well on this journey we came across a home that was picture perfect and so I thought you might like to see it:

If you look at the wreaths on the windows it will give you an idea of the size of this Estate.

This is one area that rarely has homes that come on the market. These are large parcels of land and there is a barn that I have seen several times that is amazing! This photo does not do it justice:

I hope that you can see the detail of this barn, it is amazing!!!

There was a little pond that we drove by that was so inviting, I wanted you to see it:

You see when we go out looking for land or homes in the Charlottesville area, we are going to run across some un-expected gems!

This time of year it is a perfect time to see the Blue Ridge Parkway. If you travel West of Charlottesville Virginia on Hwy 64, you can get on at the top of the mountain.

There is a fantastic bridge you go under just before you get on the Parkway.

There will be a lot of motorcycles this time of year, so please use caution.

This is Afton Overlook, almost 1100 feet above the Valley Floor.

What a view, to the left is Albemarle County and to the right is Nelson County.

Take some time and take a drive, it is well worth it!

Oh yes and bring a camera!

BTW: I have a fantastic "referral agent" in Nelson County
(but that is another story)
