Already a strong proponent of mass transit, the city of Charlottesville is trying to decide if the timing is right to add streetcar service for local residents.
Can the city and taxpayers afford the $70 million pricetag?
Where would the service run?
City leaders are beginning to get some answers to help decide if this is a good idea or not, with early details in a new report to City Council.

I personally love the idea, not sure if the costs will be justified but it will be interesting to see. Going to the council meetings is very interesting. I like to see how a city governs itself.

What an interesting idea. Even if it doesn't work, at least Charlottesville is working toward some mass transit solutions, unlike many other cities. I think it would be nice, as there is a lot to see in Charlottesville and not everyone who visits is fit enough to walk everywhere.
I think it would be good especially since gas prices are going up it could help out the commute for many hopefully.
I would be for this...I think it would be pretty cool!
Wow, that's a really cool idea. I would ride it !
Charles - that is really great!!! I miss public transportation - after living in Europe for so long, it was a real adjustment, having to go everywhere by car once I got back here in the States!!!
